RIYADH: The Professional Fighters League and Riyadh Season officials have announced that tickets for the first-ever mega mixed martial arts event of the year, PFL Champions versus Bellator Champions, are now on sale.
The weigh-ins for the Feb. 24 event will take place at Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena the day before, at 6 p.m.
The contest’s fight card will feature world champions and the biggest names in combat sports going head-to-head in the PFL SmartCage.
Headlining the card at the Kingdom Arena will be a battle between PFL heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira and his Bellator counterpart Ryan Bader.
PFL light heavyweight champ Impa Kasanganay, fighting at 185 pounds, will take on Bellator middleweight champion Johnny Eblen. Two-time PFL champion Ray Cooper III will face Bellator welterweight champion Jason Jackson, and in the featherweight category, PFL champion Jesus Pinedo will meet Bellator champion Patricio Pitbull.
The card will also feature the first-ever female MMA fight in Riyadh in which two-time Olympic gold medallist and women’s boxing champion Claressa Shields will take on Kelsey DeSantis in a women’s lightweight bout.
The event will also see the late American boxer Muhammad Ali’s grandson, Biaggio Ali Walsh, make his professional MMA debut. Other notable fighters on the card will include Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Al-Qahtani, Brazilian Thiago Santos, Cuban Yoel Romero, and Americans Clay Collard, A.J. McKee, and Aaron Pico.
The PFL is the only organization in MMA with a sports-season format, where individual fighters compete in a regular season, playoffs, and championship each year.
The combined roster of PFL and Bellator boasts 30 percent of its fighters independently world-ranked in the top 25 of their respective weight class, the same percentage as the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
